Sometimes changing perspective creates interesting photographs

20090817-20090817-42How many of us haven’t heard the saying “He is missing the forest for the trees” ? It is often used to describe someone that gets lost in details and misses the big picture. But if one were to extend this same saying to photography one would miss so many opportunities to create interesting photographs. One such opportunity arose when I was strolling around my favorite haunt, the Indianapolis Museum of Art (yeah yeah roll your eyes) and I come across this patch of Prairie Grass. When you look at it this patch is just normal looking, nothing spectacular or interesting about it. I took some photos with a wide angle lens, but in a moment of inspiration decided to switch to my 80-200mm AF-D lens and zoomed right into the grass and the results were lovely. So next time you are out there with your camera try a change in perspective, you never know what interesting photos you might create.
